Missouri will receive quite a show on August 21, 2017! Columbia is well positioned to experience over 2 minutes and 30 seconds of the total solar eclipse this August. We will be having a viewing party complete with snacks and drinks! We are lucky to be in the path of totality for this event. We look forward to seeing you there!

Katy Trail State Park – This park/trail system runs on the abandoned roadbed of the old Missouri-Kansas Texas rail line. The trail is 200 miles long and has been a hiking/biking route that extends from Sedalia to St. Charles, Missouri. The scenic trail follows the Missouri River and passes towering limestone bluffs, wetlands, forests, and historic railroad/river towns.

Rockbridge Memorial State Park – Located just a couple miles south of Columbia off of Providence road. The Park features hundreds of acres of hilly, forested terrain and includes a multitude of hiking trail. Rockbridge State Park is home to the Devils Icebox, a cave and underground stream system. The park also features sinkholes, a spring, and its namesake of course, a rock bridge.

Finger Lakes State Park – This park features 1,200 acres that host a 4.5 mile kayaking/canoeing trail, a swimming beach, a 2.25 mile mountain bike trail, and more than 70 miles of off-road motorcycle and ATV Trails and a shooting range.

Paint the Town – Follow along as Paint the Town helps you create your own masterpiece.  Whether you choose to do the group painting or do your own thing, you’re sure to go home with something special.  Watch for their offbeat classes where we will not only offer canvas, but wine glasses or wine bottle painting.  Come to paint, stay for the fun!  They offer soft drinks and a full bar.

Canvas on Broadway – The Canvas on Broadway will be your artistic outlet even if you think you can’t draw a straight line. They will walk you through the steps of a painting while providing you with an evening of entertainment, conversation, creative inspiration, possibly a glass of wine, and a few hours of laughter. Best of all, you will have a finished painting to take home and brag about.

The Mud Room – Paint your own pottery or make a custom piece to decorate your apartment or home or create a gift for someone you love. Painting fee $5 plus $5 – $40 range of Pottery to choose from.

Artlandish Gallery – Art Gallery & Shop Featuring work by Missouri Artists

Bluestem Missouri Crafts – At Bluestem they choose works of clay, glass, wood, metal, and fiber from established, nationally recognized artists, and from emerging craftspeople, students, and apprentices in a little part of the world – the Midwest. They bring you their work in their gallery and online.

Columbia Art League – Art Gallery and Arts Membership

First Fridays in the North Village Arts District – First Fridays is a free art crawl in the North Village Arts District on the first Friday of each month from 6pm to 9pm. Galleries, shops and business will be open with music, art demonstrations, children’s activities, refreshments, and much more.

Museum of Art & Archaeology – The Museum of Art and Archaeology has opened in its new location north of campus at Mizzou North, at the corner of Garth and Business Loop 70W.  The Museum is now open Tuesday – Friday 9AM-4PM and Saturday and Sunday, noon until 4PM.

Orchids & Art – Located on Columbia’s growing south side, Orchids and Art features rotating shows of work by local and regional artists. Live orchid plants complement an eclectic mix of paintings, drawings, photographs and pottery.

Orr Street Studios – Orr Street Studios is a non-profit art organization located in the North Village Arts District of Columbia, Missouri.  The space was established to provide an environment through which the community can interact and participate directly with art and artists. It houses studio space and also contains a large gallery where we display rotating exhibitions.

Poppy – Poppy is proud to give Columbia and its visitors a one-of-a-kind shopping experience with the ultimate goal of delighting, inspiring and making you feel that handmade is for everyone!

Sager Braudis Gallery – The gallery exhibits works of art in various media with represented artists ranging from Chagall and Bauer to contemporary, emerging artists.


Farmers Markets

Boone County Farmers MarketSaturdays 8 am – 12 pm (April 16 thru October 29). The Saturday Market is located in the Columbia Mall Parking Lot (Northeast of Sears and South of Wendy’s Restaurant). The Boone County Farmers Market accepts debit and EBT cards.  All produce is grown by the seller in Boone and surrounding counties.

Columbia Farmers Market –  Experience the taste of mid-Missouri at the Columbia Farmers Market! Find us every Saturday from 8am to noon (April-October) in the ARC parking lot (1701 W Ash St.) and 9am to noon (November-March) at Parkade Center (601 Business Loop 70W).  Additionally, from May-mid October you can find us on Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm in the ARC parking lot (1701 W Ash St.) and Thursday from 3 to 6 pm at The Forum Christian Church (3900 Forum Blvd). CFM has grown to become one of the premier year-round locations for locally grown and produce; offering a fun-filled afternoon with fresh vegetables & fruit, meat, farm fresh eggs, cheeses, honey, cut flowers, plants, artisan items & more. As a producer-only market, everything sold here is offered by the farmers and artisans who help sustain our region. SNAP (food stamps) accepted at all markets.  Live music every Saturday!   Rain or Shine!

Downtown Columbia Farmers & Artisan Market – Sundays 9am – 12pm, Mid-April through Mid-October. Downtown Columbia’s destination for farm fresh produce, hand crafted art and informational workshops for adults and activities for children. Find delicious breakfast and lunch options as well as live musical entertainment.
