Looking for something fun to do this holiday season? Come stay with us and see our Christmas decorations! They will be up from the last week of November through the first week of January. While you are in the area, take a short ride into town and check out some of the amazing local Christmas lights in our area. See the Magic Tree, The Holiday Lights and the Budweiser Clydesdales at Warm Springs Ranch, and we have several recommendations for great spots to get into the holiday spirit! Don’t miss Columbia’s Living Windows Display on December 1st from 6 pm to 8 pm in The District!

The Living Windows Festival

The District is full of holiday spirit during our annual Living Windows Festival! On the first Friday of December, shopkeepers throughout The District move all the merchandise out of their front windows and stage live holiday performances for onlookers. Merchants go to great lengths to outdo one another, making each year’s displays even more impressive than before. Open houses, strolling carolers, holiday treats and visits with Santa, all against a backdrop of holiday lights.

Join us on Dec. 1 from 6-8 pm for live performances, open houses, shopping, snowflakes on Broadway, the Magic Tree and visits with Santa. Parking is FREE in downtown garages after 6 pm, so come join the fun! It’s good to be here!

Parks – Hiking/Biking



Katy Trail State Park – This park/trail system runs on the abandoned roadbed of the old Missouri-Kansas Texas rail line. The trail is 200 miles long and has been a hiking/biking route that extends from Sedalia to St. Charles, Missouri. The scenic trail follows the Missouri River and passes towering limestone bluffs, wetlands, forests, and historic railroad/river towns.


Rockbridge Memorial State Park – Located just a couple miles south of Columbia off of Providence road. The Park features hundreds of acres of hilly, forested terrain and includes a multitude of hiking trail. Rockbridge State Park is home to the Devils Icebox, a cave and underground stream system. The park also features sinkholes, a spring, and its namesake of course, a rock bridge.


Finger Lakes State Park – This park features 1,200 acres that host a 4.5 mile kayaking/canoeing trail, a swimming beach, a 2.25 mile mountain bike trail, and more than 70 miles of off-road motorcycle and ATV Trails and a shooting range.

78 Local Area Parks & Trails that include Bear Creek Trail, Capen Park, Hinkson Creek Trail, Grindstone Nature Area, MKT Nature & Fitness Trail, Nifong Park, Phillips Park, Three Creeks Conservation Area, Twin Lakes Recreation Area, Rocky Fork Lakes Conservation Area, Eagle Bluffs, Bonnie View Nature Sanctuary and more.


Local Visitor GardensShelter Gardens and MU Botanical Gardens offer many beautiful flowers trees, and paths for a pretty stroll. Shelter Gardens also features a school house and a Koi Pond.

Farmers Markets


Boone County Farmers MarketSaturdays 8 am – 12 pm (April 16 thru October 29). The Saturday Market is located in the Columbia Mall Parking Lot (Northeast of Sears and South of Wendy’s Restaurant). The Boone County Farmers Market accepts debit and EBT cards.  All produce is grown by the seller in Boone and surrounding counties.

Columbia Farmers Market –  Experience the taste of mid-Missouri at the Columbia Farmers Market! Find us every Saturday from 8am to noon (April-October) in the ARC parking lot (1701 W Ash St.) and 9am to noon (November-March) at Parkade Center (601 Business Loop 70W).  Additionally, from May-mid October you can find us on Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm in the ARC parking lot (1701 W Ash St.) and Thursday from 3 to 6 pm at The Forum Christian Church (3900 Forum Blvd). CFM has grown to become one of the premier year-round locations for locally grown and produce; offering a fun-filled afternoon with fresh vegetables & fruit, meat, farm fresh eggs, cheeses, honey, cut flowers, plants, artisan items & more. As a producer-only market, everything sold here is offered by the farmers and artisans who help sustain our region. SNAP (food stamps) accepted at all markets.  Live music every Saturday!   Rain or Shine!

Downtown Columbia Farmers & Artisan Market – Sundays 9am – 12pm, Mid-April through Mid-October. Downtown Columbia’s destination for farm fresh produce, hand crafted art and informational workshops for adults and activities for children. Find delicious breakfast and lunch options as well as live musical entertainment.

Lazer Lane’s Family Fun Center –  Features an arcade featuring 50+ games and pinballs, a redemption center full of treats and toys, a bowling alley with 12 new “Rock and Wow” sound and light lanes including a full-service bar. Their lazer tag arena is 3500 square feet with 20 laser tag vests. Bumper cars is the newest attraction. They also have a cafe that features fun snacks.

Disc Golf – Columbia is host to several Disc Golf parks.
